The Click-Up acts as a semi-autonomous belay plate, that doesn’t rely on any moving parts (unlike the GRIGRI and similar). Intended for use in sports climbing, the Click-Up locks down the rope in the event of a fall by the biner rapidly moving up through the centre guide channel. All that is required is for the belayer to have control of the free (dead) rope end. Control for descending is even easier with only slight pressure needed to control the rope with total precision. This is a seriously clever little device that is sure to become a firm favourite among sports climbers.
